Only the organization Owner can transfer ownership or delete the organization. Both actions affect access and billing, so review the consequences carefully before continuing.

Transfer ownership

Transferring ownership gives another Admin full control of the organization and changes the current Owner to an Admin.
The new Owner controls organization credits, payment methods, auto top-up, people, settings, future ownership transfers, and organization deletion.

Before you transfer ownership

Make sure that:
  • The person is already an Admin in the organization.
  • They understand that they will control billing and access.
  • You are prepared to lose Owner-only permissions.
  • You have discussed any payment method or auto top-up changes with them.
If the person is currently a Member, change them to an Admin first.

Transfer ownership to an Admin

  1. Open the organization page.
  2. Find the Admin who will become the new Owner.
  3. Open the menu next to their name.
  4. Select Transfer ownership.
  5. Review each consequence in the confirmation dialog.
  6. Select every checkbox to confirm that you understand.
  7. Select Transfer ownership again.
After the transfer:
  • The selected Admin becomes the Owner.
  • You become an Admin.
  • The new Owner gains full control of billing and organization management.
  • You can still view billing and usage details, but cannot add credits or manage payment methods.
  • The organization’s existing auto top-up configuration is turned off.
  • The new Owner can configure auto top-up again.
You cannot reverse the transfer yourself. Ownership can be transferred back only with the new Owner’s cooperation.

Leave after transferring ownership

Once the transfer is complete, you can leave the organization as an Admin. Before leaving, save any important data and terminate the running or stopped instances you created. Then open the menu next to your own name and select Leave organization. See Join or leave a Compute organization for the full process.

Delete an organization

Deleting an organization permanently removes the organization and ends access for everyone in it. When an organization is deleted:
  • The Owner, Admins, and Members lose access.
  • Organization instances and their data are deleted.
  • Remaining organization credits are lost and cannot be refunded.
  • Pending invitations are canceled.
  • The action cannot be undone.
Download any data you need before deleting the organization. Local instance data cannot be recovered afterward.

Delete the organization

  1. Open the organization page.
  2. Open the organization menu next to Invite people.
  3. Select Delete organization.
  4. Review every consequence in the confirmation dialog.
  5. Select each checkbox to confirm that you understand.
  6. Select Delete organization again.
Deletion is permanent. Do not continue unless you are prepared to lose the organization’s resources, data, credits, and pending invitations.

Rename instead of deleting

If you only need to change the organization name, do not delete it.
  1. Open the organization menu next to Invite people.
  2. Select Rename organization.
  3. Enter the new name and confirm the change.
Renaming does not change roles, resources, billing, or access.
